During the Imperial Invasion of Boreale, in attempt to reconquest the star system by the Chaos Secessionist, the Ctesiphont Grand Army was divided in eight groups. Each group for each planet of the system. The Group B, the Tremendous Fires was sent on Polubdo, as support for the Conservators, the planet defence force. 

Over Polubdo

The Ctesiphont Grand Army, is composed by the formerly Imperial Guard regiments of Ctesiphont, so it is well disciplined as army. During the past three centuries from the betrayal, the Ctesiphont Chaos alignment was not detected by Imperial Inquisition (the Arch-Vicar and Arch Heretic of The Blazing Sun Cult prepared in secret for centuries this moment, so he corrupted all the Imperial administrations time by time). So the Chaos Forces had time to prepare their forces and fortifications.

The Tremendous Fires is commanded by the Warlord Kial Than, a captain of the Deepness Watchers, a mysterious Chaos Space Marines cult under the control of the Arch Heretic, the elite squads are leaded by the Chaos Space Marine champions (no one know their numbers, but they seems few...), as the rest is formed as a normal Imperial Guard army group: Kial Than as chief in command, 4 generals in command of their own forces: one paratroopers shock force, two infantry regiments, and a mechanized regiment.
